The Steven E. Brooks Professional Development Scholarship Award was created by the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA). NCASFAA created this award to encourage new members to pursue professional development opportunities and to enhance success within the financial aid profession. The scholarship will cover the cost of registration as well as travel expenses (not to exceed $500) for one participant to attend the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA) New Aid Officers Workshop.
To be eligible for the Steven E. Brooks Professional Development Scholarship, the financial aid professional who applies must:
- be a current NCASFAA member who has not previously attended the SASFAA workshop
- have five or fewer years of financial aid experience
- complete the Scholarship Application, which includes an original statement on the following topic: "The value and importance of student aid and how it relates to your choice of financial aid as a profession"
- submit a current resume and a letter of recommendation from a senior level administrator at the applicant's institution (for example: Dean, Vice-President, or Director)
This application should be submitted online by February 4, 2019. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Two additional documents must be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org in order for the application to be complete. These additional documents are (1) a current resume and (2) a letter of recommendation from a senior level administrator at the applicant's institution (for example: Dean, Vice-President, or Director).
The recipient will be announced to the NCASFAA membership during the Spring Conference, which the recipient is encouraged to attend.
